Some people like to pass this myth that pit bulls are harmless, considering the dang dogs were breeded for these kinds of “sports” in the first place should say something.

In response to Alex, considering your use of the word “breeded” in the improper tense screams ignorance. That’s all I need to see to totally discount anything you might have to say about pit bulls. I’ve never heard a myth about pit bulls being harmless. They are very powerful dogs and have been used for unspeakable acts by ignorant people not unlike yourself. The dogs are not harmless. However, in the proper hands and considering they have adequate leadership and socialization, they are very loving, loyal and well behaved dogs. It’s your type of ignorance that spreads fear and misunderstanding about these very noble dogs. :)

It’s really interesting for me to see these things, just because, I’ve always been told that pit bull are extremely dangerous dogs and that you shouldn’t trust them too much just because of the things they have been taught to do and the past that they have had. Personally, I don’t trust pit bulls with my dogs or me. I still look at them like they are violent dogs. Oddly enough though, when I take my dogs to the dog park, the pit bulls are the nicest, most go luky dogs there, it’s actually the german sheperds that are extremely violent there. Just a thought.

the dogs are harmless it’s the stupid humans that train them that are the problem. i had a 175 lb mastiff and a 2 year old daughter. she could take a steak out of the dogs mouth. plus he wouldn’t let anyone within 100ft of his kid. its the idiots that train them to be mean. that was the sweetest dog i’ve ever had. i lost him to heart worms.

Undeniable animals at their finest. Look at the tenicty and bueaty of the dogs at work. Though you need correcting, these are not baiting pictures these are ‘hunting’ pictures. I.e the pits were hunting the bull. These photos were taken by a police officer during the hurricane katrina disaster, the pits were hungry and without a home, the bull was running loose. The pits wanted dinner, the bull was it. It just goes to show the courage of these wonderful animals. You average fat pet pitbulls have nothing on these dogs. I wish the show/kennel club/pet faternity would stop destroying such beuatiful working animals and turning them into useless slobs

Oh btw the police officer who took the photos then shot the dogs, the bull did not kill them.

Any dog can be harmful, even a small sized one. Dogs have to be trained to attack people. As long as you don’t get in the way of a dogs meal or try to touch it you’ll be fine. If you leave an aggressive animal alone it will most likely leave you alone. How would you like it if a bear ran up to you out of the woods and tried to say hi be petting you? Dogs get scared and defensive like anything if they feel threatened.

so why are pit bulls and bull dogs any different? if their working dogs and that’s their job, their doing it for the loyalty of the master not for the fun of it.
