Pit Bull Propaganda Poster from WWI

Here is another example in our country’s history of how popular the Pit Bull was with Americans. This World War I Pro-American propaganda poster almost makes it seam like it is unpatriotic not to own a Pit Bull!

You probably heard about this, but Judge Judy made some terrible comments on her show about Pitties having “locking jaws” and how they “snap” out of nowhere (further perpetuating terrible urban myths). She also told the Pittie owner that he should never have a Pittie around a child, and that she “did not understand why ANYONE would have a pi…t bull when there were so many other wonderful breeds you can have.” The case was about a Pittie attacking another dog on his own property (defending his territory (she ignored the fact that any breed could attack in a territorial manner, and attributed it to the breed). She also misunderstood that dog aggression did not translate into human aggression, and repeatedly said that the dog “snapped” and that this meant the dog would snap on the children. She warned the “public” about “these dogs” and how they snap. It was interesting to note that the Pittie was living with a Lhapsa Apso and therefore, it was evident that the dog was likely acting out of territoriality and not some sort of aggressive trait.
I want her to be flooded with messages that contain the truth about pit bulls and am hoping you can help spread the word via your web site, facebook, etc. You can write to her at http://www.judgejudy.com/your_opinions.php.
