Pit Bull Attacks Porcupine

This poor Pit Bull got the bad end of the deal when it decided to attack a porcupine! I can’t imagine the pain and suffering this dog must have went through while healing from this.
CORRECTION: I have had a few people complain that this is not a Pit Bull but a Bull Terrier. I guess it does look more like a Bull Terrier now that I look at this post again, just hard to tell with all those quills everywhere.

there are so many of you an here that are stupid!!! very stupid… pitbulls are the best dog in the world. smartest, athletic, if you cant keep up with the high energy of the pit the dont get one. the pits are the most obediant of any dog, including german shepards. pits do what they are trained and what they are told to do. so if one attacks it is because the owner trained it, not necessarily to attack, but to be over protective and scare people or “intruders” but the dog doesnt kno right from wrong in a legal sence except what the owner wants the dog to do. dog wasnt trained when to stop. i own a pit, and everyone i have met loves my dog. old people and kids, girls, men. doesnt matter, all that matters is how the dog was trained and raised. was the dog kept social, was he kept kennelized? all of which play a huge and inportant role. granted they are built large and muscular, intimidating isnt it? thats the problem also. people r scared. and the ones that dont know to be scared are stupid and try to pet a dog they dont know and the dog is just protecting all it knows as its own. some of u people are a joke and make me want to choke the hell out of idiots like urself. grow up and point the finger where it should b pointed. not at the dog. but at the incondiserate owner who has no common sence. but the rest of u sticking up for these beautiful misunderstood creatures known as the pit bull, or stafshire terrior or any of the terrior breed for that matter. and the quils on the dog being all over the face as opposed to one area is because the terrior breed of dogs are verly resiliant to pain. sometimes you wont know if they r hurt till u see blood. or see them limping. they dont whine much over pain. so when he got hit first time as he was probably just sniffing and checking out the porcupine and not attacking it he felt it but was still intriqued. wanted to kno more and play. not necessarilly attack and kill like most of u think is all that a pitbull thinks about night at day.. love pits. best breed ever. little yipper dogs r the worst. they attack because they r scared. the only reason its not a big deal to ppl is cuz they cant inflict as much damage as a larger more muscular dog. thanks for your time. and i hope maybe i got thru to some of u jokes!!!!!!!
This could happen to any dog and it has. A single roll around with the procupine could easily have gotten every quill where they landed before the dog realized it was a mistake. People should not judge so fast that the owner is irresposible and the dog is too aggresive. We can assume the owner was careless and let a raging beast roam around in the harmless woods who came upon a helpless porcupine and decided to attack it. However we can also think of this from a more open-minded perspective rather than the first, bad owner; mean dog scenario that pops into mind. Perhaps the dog was mearly in his own yard, his territory, when the porcupine wandered too close and the dog felt his home was threatened. Any dog who feels their home, their “territory”, is being threatened will attack.
Also, just to say, this could have happened to a chihuahua who could actually be very agressive and there wouldnt be any comments about the dog being naturally agressive and mean-spirited. People would simply call it bad ownership and that would be the end of it.
The only thing that makes a pittbull more threatening to anything is size. If a chihuahua was that size it could be just as vicious and would be regared the same as pittbulls.
It’s not that the dog is intentionally trying to be mean or hurt anybody. It’s simply he has a more brute apperance. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. People are the reason any dog turns mean. Pittbulls may have a naturally “vicious” (for lake of a better term) personality that when poorly trained can be brought out.
There are plenty of pitts out there who are nice and wonderful family dogs who protect anyone who cares for them. Many other dog breeds are the same way. Regardless of the way they look.
Dogs will be dogs. We’re NOT asking you to like them, pet them, or interract with them in anyway. But the people who do like them and know what they’re doing; can keep any “mean” dogs at bay. So let’s keep the snide remarks and unknowledgeable comments down to a dull roar shall we?
oh and to comment on what april had said, “I am disappointed in the owner that they would post such a picture that would again feed on people’s fears and hatred for the breed.”
a few questions for you…
if this was your dog wouldn’t you want people to see what happened to it? How does its breed have anything to do with the fact that its in pain and needs comforting? REGARDLESS of the breed you still want someone to care about your dog, right? How would you feel to put a picture of your hurt pooch on the computer and just have people throw it in your face that they didnt care about how you felt because the dog abosultly must be a vicious animal? That would hurt wouldnt it? Almost as much as the needles in that poor doggy.
Being a pittbull (or english terrier or whatever) doesnt justify the fact that this could happen to ANY dog. So again, dull roar please.
DAMN IT! NOONE COULD ALLOW THESE HORRORS ON DOGS. OWNERS AND PEOPLE WHO DO SUCH CRAZY THINGS SHOULD BE BEATEN TO DEATH.
Poor dog!! how could you post something like that??
Thats awful, And I hope the dog recovers!!
poor dog do they do surgery to get all the spikes out
Omg that is lyke eew wanna puke? Ya hopefully tha dog is ok!
My god, I feel bad for the dog. I hope he didn’t have any serious problems after everything was removed. I just have to say that I can’t stand people that say that pitts are great dogs. They are a ticking time bombs wating to explode and release some serious damage to whoever crosses there path. My sister had a pitt since it was 3 mos old and when the dog was 5yrs old it attacked her and my nephew causing serious damage to her leg and her neck area. My sister took great care and loved that dog so I feel like the state of FLorida they should be banned across the country. Don’t bother commenting on my sh-t cause I’m not reading your stupid dumb ass comments.
I hate to tell u guys this but u can’t blame the owners for anything more than not having a fenced yard. Pitbulls are very playful animals. My guess would be it saw the porcupine, got curious and either went to check it out or wanted to play with it, not harm it. Hope the poor thing survived this and is ok.
it so funny how people r bitching about the breed why dont u feel sorry for the dog it dont matter wut it is u dumb f****
The pictures are intresting and sad. It would be nice to know if the dog recovered from his injuries.
