Pit Bull Attacks Porcupine
This poor Pit Bull got the bad end of the deal when it decided to attack a porcupine! I can’t imagine the pain and suffering this dog must have went through while healing from this.
CORRECTION: I have had a few people complain that this is not a Pit Bull but a Bull Terrier. I guess it does look more like a Bull Terrier now that I look at this post again, just hard to tell with all those quills everywhere.

pitbulls are harmless they only do what there owner tells them to do. basicly its the owners fault that this happend.

the dog is fine. it happened in 05 and the owner posted it took the vet sometime to get out the quills and some they couldn’t, they had to work themselves out, she was put on anti’s and pain killers….goodness that must have hurt!!!! My shepard got two quills in his lower lip and upper lip he was the biggest baby ever….I couldn’t imagine this

some of you people need to chill out, trying to find someone to blame, pitt bulls or bull terriers are good dogs, its of their nature to bond with other species, im sure the bulldog didn’t think the porcupine was at all harmful
I agree pit bulls or bull terriers are great dogs. This wasn’t the first dog to tangle with a porcupine regardless of the breed it could happen to any dog.

This Dog is stupid… People who feel sorry for this dog are stupid. This is a good example of an over aggressive dog. You would think the dog would have stopped after he had a few quills in his face, but instead he got a face full.

First off, I feel very sorry for this dog and hope that everything turned out just fine. He most likely was taken care of considering in these pics he seems docile. The worst that could have happened to him is blindness. That would be sad but animals can adapt.
Second off, I really think that it should not MATTER what breed that dog is. What MATTERS is the condition the dog is in. All of you people getting an attitude because of a small mistake should really get over it and hope that the dog is well.
Last of all, the people who keep saying that this dog is dumb and should have stopped or learned after the first quill need to really realize that the altercation probably lasted less than a few moments. Those quills come out easily. One big roll between the dog and porcupine most likely did this. And even if the dog did keep attacking this just shows the tenacity of the bread that all of you admire. It may not be a Pit but the breeds are similar.
I really do hope the dog is well. This post is old but people are still looking at it and going “Holy Crap!”

I have read so many negative responses to the pitt bull. The pitt bull is not the only dog who has gone after a porcepine and ended up with quills in its face. We have become so focused on the meanness of a pitt bull that we can’t see them for the dog that they are.
I feel bad for the dog and I am disappointed in the owner that they would post such a picture that would again feed on people’s fears and hatred for the breed.
